Meet your doctor

Mahmoud A. Khaimi, MD is the founder and president of Glaucoma Surgeons of Oklahoma, PLLC. Dr. Khaimi specializes in glaucoma and premium cataract surgery. His passion lies in pioneering and innovating glaucoma surgical procedures and devices, and he is considered a world authority in canaloplasty, a procedure that restores and rejuvenates the natural internal drainage system of the eye. Dr. Khaimi pioneered a huge breakthrough in glaucoma care. In 2013, he developed a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery known as ab-interno canaloplasty (ABiC). The procedure opens up the natural outflow channels of the eye to restore normal aqueous flow without damaging tissue or leaving behind a stent or shunt. Dr. Khaimi performed the first ABiC in 2013 and has since treated patients from all over the world using the procedure. This procedure has been adopted worldwide, and in 2023, Dr. Khaimi was given the great opportunity to pair hand-in-hand with Nova Eye Medical to develop the iTrack™ Advance, designed for improved surgical efficiency. In April 2023, Dr. Khaimi was the first surgeon in the U.S. to perform canaloplasty with the iTrack™ Advance. Subsequently, Dr. Khaimi was awarded 405 magazine’s Healthcare Innovator of the Year in 2023.
