Ophthalmic Technician

 Position Overview

The ophthalmic technician will work with the ophthalmologist/glaucoma specialist to provide patient care. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Patient history: Taking and recording medical history

  • Eye exams: Performing preliminary exams, measuring visual acuity and eye pressure, and dilating the eyes

  • Treatment rooms: Preparing examination and treatment rooms and cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments

  • Medications: Administering eye medications and topical treatments

  • Patient education: Instructing patients on how to take their medications and on tests and procedures

  • Surgery: Assisting with minor surgical and laser procedures and sterilizing instruments for surgical procedures

  • Other tasks: Coordinating patient scheduling, writing, editing, and filing patient medical records, and answering patients' questions

Receptionist/Check In/Out staff

Position Overview:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Receptionist/Check in/out member to join our medical office team. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, responsible for managing front desk operations, checking patients in/out, and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient flow.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.

  • Check in patients upon arrival, verify and update necessary information, and collect co-pays and necessary documentation.

  • Answer and direct phone calls, manage appointment scheduling, and respond to patient inquiries promptly and courteously.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms and ensure accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.

  • Coordinate with medical staff to manage patient flow and appointment schedules.

  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.

  • Perform general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, faxing, and handling mail.

  • Assist with billing and insurance verification as needed.

  • Handle patient complaints and concerns professionally, escalating issues to the Office Manager when necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in office administration or related field is a plus.

  • Proven experience as a receptionist or in a similar role, preferably in a medical office setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures is an advantage.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a busy and fast-paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
